Hi Mark,

have you tried using a "Sequence with timelimit" node? It will report
the actual time spent inside the node and also notify you in case the
timelimit is exceeded.

For your situation, try the following. Whether it works as expected
depends on how your developers implemented the hour-glass changes.

+ Mouse click or whatever triggers the hour-glass
+ Sequence with timelimit
  + click or check something inside the window with the hour-glass cursor

The time between the first click and the appearance of the hour-glass
should be negligible and will be hard to measure in any case.

The click inside the sequence should be blocked until the hour-glass
vanishes. Use an action that doesn't take much time itself, e.g. a
simple "Enabled check" on a button or like that.

Some other visual changes can be done using Check nodes with a
timeout, but other mouse cursor changes can only be captured using
