Unfortunately support for our new license format which was introduced with QF-Test 4.3 and includes information about the maintenance period wasn't perfect.
As a result, customers with a license for QF-Test 4.3 will not be able to use QF-Test versions 4.4.0 and 4.4.1 after December 15th. This can be fixed either by updating to QF-Test 4.4.2 or by applying a license update which we'll gladly provide upon request. Affected customers with a license server were informed in advance and supplied with a current license which also resolves the issue for all users of the license server.
The positive news is that we've been able to keep up with the new pace of Eclipse with now four releases per year so that QF-Test 4.4.2 already comes with support for the upcoming Eclipse/SWT version 4.10.
The detailed list of differences between QF-Test version 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 can be found in the Release Notes in section 5 of this newsletter or online.
Which Java versions does QF-Test support - in particular regarding Oracle's licensing policy?
QF-Test supports Java versions 6 to 11 and soon 12.
For some time QF-Test is going to be distributed with a free Java version (JRE 8) made available by Oracle under the BCL (Binary Code License) which does not incur any costs for you or for us.
When we bring QF-Test to Java 11 or higher we plan to either use OpenJDK or some other free JRE or acquire a Distribution License from Oracle so that there won't be any additional costs for you either.
We continue our popular special webinars: The webinar is free of charge but seats are limited.
