Hi Amedeo,

Thanks for providing the thread dump.

The event dispatch thread is still live, but busy painting some
component. Unfortunately you only sent a single thread dump. Could you
please create three or four dumps in short succession, then maybe we
can find out whether there is any progress in this painting,
indicating an endless loop, or whether the native call to

        at sun.java2d.loops.MaskBlit.MaskBlit(Native Method)

is blocking. But either way there's not going to be anything I can do
inside QF-Test, the problem appears to be entirely one specific to
your setup. For example, a blocking MaskBlit call could be caused by
a problem in the

Things to try:

- Get a more current JDK version. Current versions are 1.5.0_15 and
1.6.0_10. I don't know whether the same versions apply to HP IA64. If
so, please try to run QF-Test with one of these. You don't necessarily
have to run your SUT with the same JDK, you can use whatever JDK is

- Try to run QF-Test with a 32bit JDK. I'm not sure whether this is
possible on an HP IA64 system. Again, this does not mean you'll need
to change the JDK for the SUT.

- Try running QF-Test with the Gtk Toolkit for AWT instead of Motif.
This can be achieved by starting qftest as follows:

qftest -J-Dawt.toolkit=sun.awt.X11.XToolkit

Does any of the above help?

Best regards,
