Thanks Gregor,

I'm actually using Windows 2000, but that did the trick. Via TweakUI I
changed the registry setting
ForegroundLockTimeout (Prevent applications from stealing focus) to Y
I know that it decreases test stability. But in the phase of writing tests
it is a great benefit for me to be able to work on other things while
preconditions are getting set up.

Regards, Bastian

Hello Bastian,

I suppose you're talking about Windows XP and the Windows of the SUT
that keep popping to the front during a test, not about qftestJUI
itself, right?

During a test, qftestJUI always tries to bring the target Window of an
event to the front because that improves test stability. It is not a
goal to be able to work while a test is running because there's always
a chance that what you're doing will interfere with the test.

However, as you said, qftestJUI tests are in fact pretty robust and if
you want to work on the same desktop during a test it's up to you.

Whether or not the SUT windows come to the front during a test appears
to depend on some Windows XP registry settings. It is XP that prevents
windows from stealing focus after all.

Please see

http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/sampchap/6232.asp

or

http://www.primacom.net/~z6295510/tweakuixp.html

In both cases, look for the section titled Focus and the table number
5-2 and experiment with the registry settings.

I'd appreciate an update with your results to the list, it might be
quite interesting for others as well.

Best regards,
    Greg
