Hi Rob,

the fact that qftest blocks user events in check mode is exactly what
you need to record such fragile things. What you're looking for is the
F12 key (which is configurable) to switch between norml recording and check mode.

Start recording, move the mouse over the target component to trigger
some visual effect, then press F12 to switch to check mode, record the
check, then press F12 again to switch back to normal recording.
