[qftestJUI] qftest Installation on an NFS file server and file perms in qftestJUI root

Our QA team want to install qftest on our nfs file server (sparc solaris
9) w/ appropriate licensing. They will not login to the file server, but
run the app remotely on their unix desktop. After performing the
default install and changing the file perms to root:root, i found the
files under qftest root, jython, log and plugin are world writable.
Since this filesystem mount will only be shared as read only, end users
on their local host will not be able to update these directories/files.
So my questions concern using qftest in a networked env:
What is the purpose of these files (log., jython, plugin?
Do they need to world-writable?
Can the $HOME/.qftest/JUIconfig be setup to write to a local copy per user?
