Hi Rick,

if you want to test applications in a Citrix environment it's necessary
that you install QF-Test on your Citrix servers as well.

QF-Test needs to run on that system where the SUT is actually running and
that's the Citrix server environment. Then all of it's features are
supported as Capture&Replay, Check-Text etc.

On the client system Citrix is just painting the UI of those applications.
You could test that client-side only with image-comparisons, e.g. the
qfs.autoscreen procedures from qfs.qft or perhaps with some autowin
procedures, but that needs to be tested.

Anyway, I don't think QF-Test will be able to interact with the Citrix
window as that's a native plugin. Some very simple automation based on
image recognition and mouse clicks relative to identified regions may
be possible, but I guess that's not much help, especially as you'd
need a third party OCR library to read the text from an image.

QF-Test can still run on XP. The question is what kind of system the
fat client is. Even if it's a native Windows program it may be
possible to automate it via QF-Test's autowin package.

We're investigating feasibility of interfacing with a legacy application
that we currently can only access through a Citrix session.

We're using Citrix XenAPP Plugin for Hosted Apps, v11.0.0.5357

Can QFTest interact with the hosted application through the Citrix
window?

The other option might be to build a virtual machine using XP and
running the fat client on that, and hoping QFTest will run on the older
OS.

The purpose of the project is to get into one legacy application,
navigate that application, and read the data in a text field and store
it in a database.
