Hello Erik,

are you aware that you've sent your email to a public QF-Test forum (and not to QF-Test support)? Well, in practice there's often no big difference, unfortunately ...

You probably missed a crucial reference to the 'Feature' attribute (and others) in the manual, namely chapter 39.1 "Resolver hooks". To put it in a nutshell, a FeatureResolver allows of providing your very own 'Feature' for a component. For example, the following 'SUT script'

def getFeature(com, feature):
   return com.getText().upper()

resolvers.addFeatureResolver2("myfeature", getFeature, "javax.swing.JButton")

makes a button's caption in capitals the 'Feature' of that component. Admittedly, not very useful, but you are free to implement getFeature() just as you like.

Best regards,

Dear QF-Test Support,

We are currently testing an application with multiple components of the
same class displayed on each screen. We are trying to avoid indexing as
much as possible and looking forward to use 'feature' option where
possible. Unfortunately we could only find a high level insight on
'feature' functionality in *(30.12.3) *and*(36.2) *chapters of the *User
manual* and there was not much explanation on how you actually find
'features' of your components and their values or mechanics/algorithm
behind this functionality. We have tried using internal methods and their
return values, but it did not work well.

Many thanks in advance,
Erik Macisevskij
