Hi Bill,

focusability should not have anything to do with it.

Are you seeing any exceptions in the terminal?

Please set the option
Run-log->Content->Number of events to log for error diagnosis
to 500 or more, then try to record a click into an empty test-suite.

Immediately afterwards, replay something that will cause an error,
e.g. an SUT script with 

rc.logError("xxx")

and send me the suite with the recording and the run-log with the
error.
