Since that previous posting I came across the Jakarta Commons library
from the apache project which appears to include telnet support.
Please check out

http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/net/

You should be able to simply drop the commons-net jar into qftestJUI's
plugin directory, then use that API from Jython.
