Upgrades
QF-Test is available in several variants which differ only in the supported GUI
technology. For each product, development and runtime licenses are offered. Please see the
License Types page for details about
the product and license types.
Development and Production Versions
The middle part of a QF-Test version number determines the kind of version. Even numbers
designate "production" versions while odd numbers represent "development" versions.
"Production" here means that only bug-fixes and very minor new features will be
implemented for such versions. This sort of stability is very important for production
use.
Development versions are available for a limited time during development cycles. They
include the latest features and are tested just as thoroughly as production versions. They
are ideal starting points for new users and give customers a chance to prepare for a
medium or major upgrade.
When new features have consolidated and proven useful, a development branch is frozen and
superceded by a new production release. Development versions have a limited lifetime of
typically three months after release. Before a development release expires we will provide
either the next production version or a new development release with extended lifetime.
At this time, QF-Test 3.1 is the current development version whereas QF-Test 3.0 means the latest
production version.
Medium Upgrades
A medium upgrade is an upgrade between two production versions of QF-Test with the same major
version number. At the time a future QF-Test 3.2 is released, users with a
valid Maintenance Agreement will be entitled to upgrade for free. This free upgrade is
restricted to the same QF-Test product type (see Product Types page). Without Maintenance
Agreement, the price for the medium upgrade from version 3.0 to a future 3.2
will be about 20% of the then current license price for the respective product.
Major Upgrades
Users with a valid Maintenance Agreement for QF-Test are entitled to a free upgrade to
QF-Test 3.0 for all licenses covered by the Agreement. This free
upgrade is restricted to the same QF-Test product type (see Product Types page).
For QF-Test 2.2 users without a valid Maintenance Agreement, license upgrade to QF-Test
3.0 is available at 35% of the current license price. From QF-Test 2.0 an
upgrade to 3.0 costs 40% of the current license price. All these upgrades are
restricted to the same QF-Test product type (see Product Types page).
Upgrade to an enhanced QF-Test product
Upgrading to another QF-Test product supporting additional GUI technologies (see Product Types page) is possible at any time. For
further information or an individual offer, please contact qfs@qfs.de.
