I have been using QF-Test since 2004. I have evaluated other tools such as Test Complete and other various freeware tools, but have found none as easy to use and dynamic as QF-Test. The bottom line is that I wanted to be able to type stuff in the application and have the tool play it back where the data could be variable. QF-Test handled that nicely and I am able to rapidly test the application after a build. The bonuses that allow for data checking, ability to create procedures for reusable code (very nice), and the Jython scripting language to interact with the database and files has made QF-Test exceptional. I recently upgraded to QFS version 2.2.2 and found one of my favorite features, the ability to continue execution at any location in the script. This makes checking corrections while running a script much easier. I have found no other automated testing tool, with as many features, as easy to use as QF-Test.

Part of an automated tool evaluation is the quality of customer support. QFS has an email directly to customer support and provides a timely response, usually less than a day. All of my questions have been answered in a professional courteous way by a person, not a form letter, and not a database FAQ search response, I really appreciate that.

As I have experience with different tools for automation, and can compare - when automating with QF-Test, you are just writing tests/scripts and you don't care about finding workarounds: it's not needed.

I am content with the upgrade from qftestJUI to QF-Test so far and particularly happy with the Data Driven functionality which works a treat.

I've worked with other major automation tools. For ease of use and flexibility, QF-Test is the best tool I've used in automation. And of course the support is legendary, replies to all my questions within 12 hours and I'm on the other side of the world!

Implementation of QF-Test has effectively cut the manual test effort from 4 days per release to an overnight job. We can now assure existing functionality has not regressed by pressing a button at the end of the working day. Having thousands of test cases for our software management application, automation is a necessity. In the past, we have used several automation tools to assist in our testing effort from commercial software applications to tools developed in-house. None of them compared to QF-Test when it comes to the ease and speed of implementation. This full feature tool cut much of the manual regression testing time down, considerably. This allowed our team to focus more on the manual testing of the newer features.

Unlike the other tools, QF-Test made it easy to continue the test automation from release to release of our application, through the integration of Jython. Although Jython scripting was new to our test development team, it didn't take long before we were up and running... thanks to the support team at QFS. The level of support is extraordinary. I was a little doubtful at first when reading the testimonials about the support, but it was, indeed, true. They are "very responsive" and "lightning quick".

Unsere Tests laufen 90 Minuten. Davon sind ca. 15 Minuten für das Aufsetzen des gesamten Systems, Kompilieren von Server und Client etc. und grundlegende JUnit-Tests, ca. 75 Minuten nehmen die QF-Tests ein. Ein manueller Test (wenn er ohne Eingabefehler vom Tester läuft) dürfte in etwa wenigstens 6-7 mal so viel Zeit brauchen, da die Eingaben, die wiederkehrenden Abläufe und die Prüfung der Werte sehr zeitaufwändig sind. Bei Eingabefehlern des Testers kann es schon sein, dass die Daten nicht mehr rückgängig gemacht werden können, was einen Serverstopp, Datenbank-Wiederherstellung und Serverstart mit sich bringt, was jedes Mal ca. 7 Minuten kosten würde.

Ich schätze, dass ein manueller Testdurchlauf 7-8 Stunden konzentrierte Arbeit kosten würde. Wir bräuchten aber zumindest zwei Testdurchläufe pro Tag, da wir unser System, Helium V, auf zwei verschiedenen Datenbanken aufbauen können. Vermutlich müsste man die Testpersonen aber spätestens nach 14 Tagen austauschen wegen geistiger Ermüdung und der Gefahr bei stupider Arbeit dem Wahnsinn zu verfallen ;-).

Wir bedanken uns daher bei QFS für die Durchführung des Workshops. QFS hat uns in den beiden Tagen sehr kompetent geschult und uns detailliertes Wissen genau in der richtigen Dosis vermittelt. Damit ist die Vorfreude auf dem zweiten Workshop um so größer.

Auch dass jetzt endlich drag'n'drop unterstützt wird, ist in der täglichen Arbeit eine große Erleichterung. With help of the test scripts we are finding bugs almost at a daily basis. This justifies all the effort we put in QF-Test.

At this time we can create scripts almost as fast as when testing manually if there are already procedures available for this functional module. One hour of manual testing takes 1,5 to 2 hours to automate. I think this is a very good performance.

When we start with a new module and have to create procedures and record all the new components this performance is of course lower.

QF-Test wird bei RTL Television zur automatischen Qualitätsicherung des Nachrichtenredaktionssystems eingesetzt. Hierbei ist QF-Test zentraler Bestandteil einer darauf basierenden Umgebung. In dieser Umgebung laufen mehrere Instanzen von QF-Test, welche so gesteuert werden, dass parallele Aktionen automatisch ausgeführt werden können.

Durch den Einsatz von QF-Test wurden schnelle und zugleich qualitätsgesicherte Releases erst möglich. Heute ist dieses Werkzeug für die Abnahme unverzichtbar.

An dieser Stelle würde ich gerne noch ein Feedback zur QF-Test Version 2.0 geben:
Super!!! Vor allem durch das Feature zur Wiederaufnahme der Tests an einer beliebigen Stelle und die Möglichkeit im Debugger die Variablenwerte anzuzeigen, habe ich bereits viele Nerven sparen können. Es gibt halt manchmal Applikationen, die ansonsten wirklich mühsam zum testen sind.

I'm the main user of QF-Test in our company for testing our Java Apps. Our Java Apps are written using Swing/AWT and QF-Test is a perfect tool for testing them. I'm quite happy with QF-Test because it's very easy to use and does its jobs nicely. Writing test automation scripts with it is a feat. I find it very easy to set-up/write/excecute test cases. There were couple of times at the beginning when I had some newbie problems, but nothing Greg couldn't solve in matter of hours. Hoooray to Greg! :)

I think QF-Test is a wonderful product. I have yet to use it to its full potential, but that's only matter of time. Please keep up the good work!

QF-Test is the high effective regression testing tool, reduce lots of man days and time on regression testing, which is very important for us to verify the product quality if time or QA resource are limited. Bugs/Defects are easy to be found, and usually in time. After source codes are changed, some side-effect or other bugs may be caused, but QF-Test may find it easily at once. Some times, we use QFT test cases to let newbies familiar with our products. The QF-Test report is the main guideline of our product quality.
